Yesterday was Election Day.
Local races were decided. Mayors, governors, attorney generals, and if you’re like most people, you probably felt something about the results. Maybe you’re relieved, maybe you’re upset, maybe you’re just tired of the whole thing.
I get it.
I used to be deeply invested in politics. I followed every poll, every debate, every talking point. I watched the news like it was a sport and pinned a lot of hope on who won and lost. (I’ll admit, I still know enough of what’s going on to stay informed — I’m just not engulfed in it anymore.) But over time, I realized something that changed me — man will always fail you.
Your candidate might win or lose, but either way, life goes on.
Even when your candidate wins, things rarely turn out how you imagined. Promises get broken. Agendas shift. The same leaders who promised to fix everything often end up focused on donors, politics, or power.
But you know who never fails?
God.
Think about this:
The God who spoke the universe into existence, who hung every star in the sky, cared so deeply for you and me that He gave His Son.
John 3:16 says,
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
And then, just seven chapters later, we read Jesus saying this:
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” John 10:10
Isn’t that incredible?
God didn’t send Jesus so we could live in fear, frustration, or defeat every time the political winds shift. He sent Jesus to give us life — real, abundant life.
Now, let’s pause on that word abundant.
It doesn’t mean easy, or wealthy, or perfect. (Sorry, prosperity preachers — not sorry.)
It means a life full of peace, joy, hope, and strength in the middle of the mess.
Life in Jesus doesn’t mean every election will go your way. It doesn’t mean the world suddenly becomes fair or kind or peaceful. But it does mean you have a steady anchor when everything else feels shaky. It means that no matter what happens in Washington or your state capitol, you have a Savior who is still on the throne.
And one day, for those who believe, there’s the ultimate promise:
A day with no more pain, no more tears, and thank God — no more politics.
So if you’re feeling discouraged, worried, or frustrated after this election, remember this:
Don’t put your faith in a politician. Put it in God. He’s never broken a promise. He never changes. And He loves you — right now, right where you are.
