Get-R-Done Faith

Back in the early 2000s, Larry the Cable Guy had everybody cracking up with his catchphrase—“Get-R-Done.” You couldn’t walk through a Walmart without hearing somebody say it (sometimes way too loud 😂). It was funny, simple, and it stuck.

But lately I’ve been thinking… that phrase kind of fits when it comes to faith, too.

James 1:22 says,

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

In other words, don’t just talk about it—get it done.

We live in a time where it’s really easy to share a post, nod our heads at a sermon, or say “amen” when someone else is talking about Jesus. But living it out—serving, forgiving, showing grace, loving people who aren’t easy to love—that’s the “get-r-done” part of faith.

And here’s the thing: God’s not asking us to do it in our own strength. Philippians 1:6 reminds us that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion. God is faithful to finish what He starts—He just calls us to step up, trust Him, and walk it out.

So maybe this week, when life feels busy and faith feels like something you’ll “get to later,” remember Larry the Cable Guy’s famous words—get-r-done. Only this time, not as a joke, but as a reminder to live out what you believe.
